Kai Trump, the 18-year-old granddaughter of U.S. President Donald Trump and an incoming freshman on the University of Miami women's golf team, has returned to training following left wrist surgery earlier this year. The amateur golfer from Jupiter, Florida, shared an Instagram Stories video of herself performing box squats in the gym, captioned "We’re so back," while tagging her coach, Alex Paup.[1][2]

Trump verbally committed to the Miami Hurricanes on June 17, 2024. The program competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), with its season typically beginning in the fall.[3][4]

On January 20, 2025, Trump announced she had undergone surgery to repair injuries to the stabilizing tissues of her extensor carpi ulnaris (ECU) tendon and damage to her triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC). The procedure was performed by Dr. Thomas Graham, chief of hand and upper extremity surgery at Jefferson Orthopedics, at the Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute in Pennsylvania.[1][2]

The surgery followed Trump's LPGA Tour debut at The Annika driven by Gainbridge at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida. The event took place November 13-16, 2025. She posted rounds of 86-72 for a total of 18-over 158, finishing in last place among 72 players, 27 strokes behind winner Grace Kim (65-66) and 17 strokes outside the cut line at 1-over par.[5][6]

Trump improved by eight strokes from her first to second round. She has cited her college time at Miami as preparation for a professional career, telling Fox News Digital in July 2024: "The more golf I play, the better I’ll do. Getting experience. Miami gave me a great opportunity."[1]
